Loving

It is skittish and clumsy—in denial
And dishonest.  It is forgetful
And scattered, an amazement and terror.
It is beguiled by its own being,
And is hoping and wishing—it is never
Sleeping, feeling, or heeding to logical thoughts;
It is a sense of escaping, and pondering passion.
It is always devising, plotting, and
Wishing—waiting and weaving ideas,
All the while never wavering.
It is needless, and nonsensical—ridiculous,
And tiresome—cumbersome and curious,
But is still believed to be worth the trouble.
It is desirous and dreamy—it is constant,
And tenacious—tantalizing, and timeless;
It is both shy and audacious,
Wry and respectful. It is a succubus
And saint—both war and peace—
Nirvana, a nazi—orderly and chaotic,
Both vanilla and chocolate.
It is abstract and constrained,
Both original and plain.
It is prodigious and mini,
A scandalous imp and seraph—
Both forgotten and favoured,
Frivolous and hoarded.
It is delicate and evasive
But still,  we want it.

The Remedy

It seems for love to flourish, it must be reciprocated
By two individuals with fully functional hearts.
Each half in the whole must be, in their own respect,
Complete. For when there is an unequal abrasion,
In the equation that is fidelity, there may not be finality,
And it seems entirely likely that one of the two parties,
May never venture into the realm of self-revelation.
The law of mutual interaction, which guides attraction,
Is a flawed condition—for adulation commits itself
As anguish—an ache perpetuated like a bullet shot…
Not as a necessity, but as the result of mistimed affection.
Perhaps, for passion to fully exist, it must be elected
By two partners who both feel peace of mind—
So there is balance betwixt the happiness of both lovers,
Where pride and ecstasy can, and will always, coexist.
Trepidation of the heart is a dangerous concoction,
A mixture of emotions which should not be stirred—
Love is not a remedy, rather, it is a reward—
A gift exchanged between two paramours.

The Darkest Wish

Perhaps everyone needs a chapter in their life,
A page that remains untouched until they die—
Everybody needs feelings of love and languish
To give them humility and perspective,
And calm their beating hearts—dampen their desire.
For, if anyone was to go their entire life
Without being forced into a difficult goodbye,
They would not be human, they would not understand
The sleepless nights, or the clawing within their chest
That keeps them awake for days at a time—
The unrequited lust that brings pain and nothing else.
Love is a unity with no better, but the search is endless,
And requires a lifetime of suffering—love is evil

And amiss, it is the demon with the darkest wish.

Eternally Grateful

This is me striving to articulate
With a clarity my voice cannot pass.
This is sentiment I wish to express
With the ease and lack of distress
Of either this line or the last.
This is me applying repetition and rhyme,
To project my pondering to your eyes.
From my hands to your shifting gaze,
I aspire to contrive clandestine praise
With shy scribbling and surprise.
Dearly, I wish a life of happiness,
And joy to you for all your days.
I wish tiny treasures inflate your world
So you may never come unfurled—
I hope your laughter never strays.
I am stumbling—fumbling upon—
The right letter combination to state…
That I hope, when blue skies fade grey,
You are soon met with a sunny array—
Fortune—to share your smile’s weight.
And if there is a path you wish to walk,
A hidden grove, through which you start
To trot—I hope you see it fit,
To follow your true desire—commit—
To the voice from within your heart.
This is me anxious—proofreading—
And preening the passage that I have yet
To pass, and in essence admit—reveal—
I hope your life is kind…I feel
Eternally grateful that we have met.

Down The Road

Somewhere down the road,
I hope to give my heart to you,
The only gift I have to share—
The epitome of a peddler’s joy.
And—I think—I would like
To fall in love too, so I may
Hold you near at each opportune.

Somewhere down the road,
I would like to be yours
So that you may be mine too—
We could live hand in hand,
On the always summered shore.
For it seems I always dream of love
By you, no matter where I am.

Somewhere down the road,
I hope to always be true
So your delicate hand and my
Fumbled grasp could lock once more
And we could be forever, you and me—
A companioned grasp with vows
In a pair of loving eyes

Let Me Pretend

How can I ache with desire as such,
On nights I turn my mind off?
Not now, not on a night so calm—
I can’t handle it—not tonight.
I can’t think of you at this moment,
My thoughts are needed elsewhere,
I cannot afford to sit, wondering…
What it would be like.
I can’t waste time asking what if,
When I know we live separate lives.
Passion is needed elsewhere,
These thoughts must not survive—
Please not now, on a night so calm—
I can’t handle it—not tonight.
Don’t pull me back in
When I don’t have the time.
I know who I am, and who I’m not;
Tonight is not for make-believe,
Tonight there will be no fight.

Greatness

Greatness
Your hands, cold, remind me of the terror I’ve felt—
And you, so beautiful in all your youth, sit before me,
Tears of happiness in your eyes, a smile on your mouth.
My lovely, never let us ever drift apart;
Please do mind my heart.
Run away, run away with me as we leave our lives behind—
For reality has not been kind, let us forge a new path
And release the deathly grip that holds us back.
My lovely, I fear we drift apart,
I feel it within my heart.
We could stay awake beneath the stars on summer nights,
Whisper secrets—forgotten dreams, worlds gone by.
If you would someday relinquish that deathly grip,
My lovely, I believe we remain apart
And it hurts, deep within my heart.

Love

Child in this world, born without a voice
He becomes the man, who lives life with hope,
His heart may grow fond but not by choice—
For him, eager eyes make it hard to cope.
The child brought into a lifetime of lust
Becomes the man who is destined to weep
Over the love that’s gone and lose of trust—
Forever wakeful—for dreams haunt his sleep.
Hope is what saves him, but with it comes fear
For fear is chased with feelings of regret—
Love may be followed but never feels near
With nights left home, waiting for pain to set.
Hope, the foundation of a broken heart
Forges dreams for him, before faces part.

My Valentine

The years pass us by, never really changing—
The seasons fade, never really forgetting;
Hand in hand as the leaves fall gently down.
Winter tears drown us like a river sliding
Across the landscape built from our hearts.
A decade passes, I’m still alone—
Wondering why I went so wrong,
Holding on to what I carved in stone.
I can’t believe we are both getting older,
A single day lingers in my mind,
I awake each day just to find it gone.
Your smile, greater than diamonds—
I hold it close, so it will last forever,
I want you to last forever.
A thousand tears pass us by, separate lives—
I’ll never feel the hand of my dreams,
It fades as the seasons pass us by.

When I'm Not There

I’ll never be the one to comfort you
When your world is collapsing—
And when you are feeling lonely,
I won’t be there to hold your hand,
Somebody else will make you right.
You will have to dry your own tears,
And spend your nights alone.
When you need somebody to talk to,
I won’t be there to hear your worries.
But when everything falls apart
I’ll be dreaming about comforting you,
And holding you so tight you’ll know
That I’m never planning on letting go.
When everything falls apart
I’ll be dreaming about being there
To take your hand and see your smile.
Every night I dream of drying your tears,
And to rid you of every monster.

What Silence Brings

My mind is weary, words becoming rare—
I speak seldom, wisdom fading far.
It feels as though someday you will hear
Me speak the words you don’t accept,
And on that day your heart is going to sink
Just as much as my heart now.
For I know what is not meant to be,
I know what fair wishes are—I see dreams—
I see you holding another’s hand.
Never mistake my smile for happiness,
I’m swallowing down the pain silence brings.
When I speak I’m hopeful you hear the tremble
That has been fixed in my voice.
When I look at the ground as you pass by
I’m hoping to see you turn your eyes—
Holding my breath so you don’t see me cry.

A Single Moment

There was one single moment,
Where everything felt right.
On a day, during a week and month
That will soon be out of sight.
I was sure I found perfection,
Until the moment I closed my eyes—
That’s when you disappeared,
And I felt a piece of myself die.
There was one single moment,
Where dreams came true—
The memory will always linger
And I promise, I will never forget.

Winter's First Night

I know if I was coming home to you
The ice and snow wouldn’t feel so cold.
If I was met with your smile at the door
I wouldn’t have to deal with the pain
Of thinking about you with somebody else.
The snow falls into my eyes as I try to walk,
I stagger blindly by night trying to find you—
You’re by the fireplace as he keeps you warm.
I dream of being in his place, to have his voice;
But instead I return to where the lights are dim
And memories are the firewood beneath my heart.
Winter brings deathly laughter and a foreign world,
You’re gone awry in my mind and I can’t forget
The lingering moments that meant so much to me.
I can’t stop thinking about you—there is ice all around;
I hope on this night you stay warm.

Far Away

Clearly we are not from the same world,
And perhaps we will never truly meet
The way I imagine in my dreams.
We will grow apart until the sun burns out,
Remain distant until the end of time.
Hearing who you are burns my ears
And I can’t listen to where you’ve been.
I will never believe the slander I am told;
I will take my hope to the grave.
Your world doesn’t serve me well,
I get lost quicker than you know.
I just want to be the one that says goodnight,
I want to leave these lovestruck nights behind.

My Heartbreak

I once fell for the most beautiful girl,
But I didn’t know how to talk to her—
My words didn’t seem to want to unfurl,
Not even when my heart began to stir.
She slipped away not knowing how I felt,
I still can’t figure out what’s wrong with me,
Caught in silence as she makes my heart melt—
I fail to believe it’s not meant to be.

Your Voice

Your voice is just a fleeting echo
That lingers when you’re gone—
So soft—confined to isolated moments;
Delicate and raising flickers of hope—
A trap of optimism that I fall into.
Your words are lost when you speak,
For I can’t hear a word you say
Over the sound of my heart beating
And the weakness that overcomes me.
Silence seems to reign in my world,
But each day I pray I’ll learn to speak.

She May Be Beautiful

She is the cause of late nights,
And an ever beating heart
Her eyes alone, a star’s might,
Her face is heavens start.

So delicate she may break,
Surely built with pewter lace.
Her crystal voice leaves fate opaque—
Diamond accents a perfect face.

Hands like cashmere to the heart,
So fair and close to heaven
When she laughs clouds choose to part—
The sun finds a place in heaven

To Fall for You

I think I might want to fall in love
And lay next to you every night until I die.
I want to find you and whisper in your ear,
Hold you tight and squeeze you until I find my breath.
I want to save your life and kiss your forehead,
Tell you that everything will be okay—
I want to take you to Paris and watch the stars
And remind you of the years that we should have shared.
I think I might want to fall in love when I find you;
I’ll be a concrete wall so you can watch me crumble—
I’ll come running when I hear your voice.
Let me be the humility in your own eyes,
Tell me that you never want to see me leave,
I think I might want to fall in love,
I might want to fall in love with you tonight.

My Heart

Don’t believe a word I say,
Surely I must lie to you—
And I hope that you lie too.
On my mind you start to weigh,
Leaving me sad and confused—
Ego the salt in my wounds.
My heart pops like a balloon,
Jealously may leave me bruised—
Jealousy tears me in two.
The world must be made of sand,
It melts when you hold his hand—
I am torn because of you.

What You Do to Me

Breathing stops—time stops,
Confronted with absolute beauty,
Words are nonexistent.
A perfect portrait—every detail noted,
A face to make the world unravel,
Never will there be another.
I hear a voice—I hear a chorus,
The theme song to my sorrow,
Tears are not resistant.
One to fight—One to die,
I would gladly give it all,
Surely there is no other.
There is doubt—there is anxiety,
Words don't seem to be enough,
Surely you must be so distant.
