Your Voice

Your voice is just a fleeting echo
That lingers when you’re gone—
So soft—confined to isolated moments;
Delicate and raising flickers of hope—
A trap of optimism that I fall into.
Your words are lost when you speak,
For I can’t hear a word you say
Over the sound of my heart beating
And the weakness that overcomes me.
Silence seems to reign in my world,
But each day I pray I’ll learn to speak.
