Amiss

The passion amiss, a passing scene—
This is life! The disappointment,
And routine… This is life, the simplicity
Of breathing, and being held half asleep.
Love is buried beneath the visions,
The illusions that cannot be proved—
The warmth of our blood, tenderness.
Strings of faith are tethered and
Knotted—we are entirely empty,
And entities of repugnant vices.
One day we will wake, old and grey
And our lives will have lasted
No more than a few fluttering
Heartbeats; the future nears.
We are still children at heart,
And perhaps that is the cause of fright—
What if life will never be more
Than a series of dilemmas?
A piece of us burned in the flames,
The fire scorched our sobriety

And left us cold at heart.

A Young Mind

Enjoy each day, with an inescapable passion—
Build upon your reasoning with an inventory
Of knowledge and communication.
Be a chrysalis of innovation, and ponder
Your purpose, whilst smiling an
Enduring grin. It is your life;
Never be afraid to begin again.
Enjoy beauty, when offered freely,
And be courageous, if the sun has set.
Do not hesitate to succumb to the
Limits of your own imagination.
Tread the parallels of your own perception—
Pass each former self with a froth
Of favorable and discreet emotion.
Each step is directed, you are guided
By the minuscule theories of positive
Addition—it is not fair wishes but

Habitual patterns that paint your way.

A Lack of Speech

Silence is a secret language, of languish,
Of longing that exists—it perpetuates
The stillness between heartbeats,
Which could be deemed, without reason,
The period between fallen teardrops—
Dewdrops on eyelashes, gumdrops
To childlike innocence. But our pedantry
Is of the pedigree of our passion—
Our heart-place is replaced,
With the purity of butterfly wings,
Even on days we feel disgrace—
For as long as we ache, life will always
Be a maze—an amazing world of
Wonderment we behold.
Silence is the cause of delusion
And merriment. It is the pavement
On introverted streets—it is both
Disdain and hope—it is rebirth and death,
It is sad and a gift—a gloomy life
And a constant restrain. It is the most
Distinct flaw and a saving grace.

A Bitter Taste

We have all been born with the same lusts,
And although it may be a sad fact,
It plagues all of us—Our emotions!
Are predictable and scripted, with the same
Bitter twists—the same thoughtless quirks.
We are all evil, spreading our nefarious
Deeds at different speeds—crushing spirits
To improve our own value—to rekindle
Our flickering souls, the sadness dwelling
Within our hearts. We are all selfish,
Looking to tango with the most attractive
Tail available to us—we our cursed,
Predisposed for narcissistic deaths,
Written in Lucifer’s clutches—Our lives
Will end equally miserable—equally unfulfilled
For there is no man on this earth
Guided purely by good intentions—
We are all living arrogant, self-centered
Delusions, where none of us are
Villains… How misguided.

We can’t all be protagonists.

A Dangerous Paradigm I Do Not Understand

Perhaps the paradigm has passed me by,
And I have been kept alive for merely
My own awakening—I may learn yet,
That I slept soundly through the seasons
And that brevity is the bane I have braided—
The same sickness I have contrived…
The seraph that seems to surface!
I deem a dream I once had the epitome
Of my being—a fantastic fantasy of mine,
Molted into colours fit for a thousand butterflies.
It is a daily dance that delivers itself to me,
And feigns the faintest passions to make
Midnight appear as morning—a starless
Sky that I stare into until my eyes start
Tiring… But still it seems appropriate
That these are the moments my head
Stalls its spinning, and I capture clarity
Amongst my confusion and clutter.
I mutter along and stutter my simplest
Desires—drifting aimless like a ship
Sailing through wreckage—reckless!
The pining veiled with the vexation
Of one who is both majestic and missing—
The fruition of frivolous wishing—
The resultant of too much thinking.
But time is still ticking, and I am left
With a lustful lesion build from brooding
Upon the feeling that have haunted me
Thoroughly since I last tipped my hand.
I am sorrowed by withered words
That may never live to enlighten a page
Or become anything more than a dreary
Assortment of ink and dust.

Alas

Alas, the dream you once had, fades from your eyes,
Watching footsteps past longing eyes—
The weary smile which marks the greatest goodbye.
Those hands, soft as silk, sharpen the blow—
Beauty comes, beauty passes, beauty changes
Like the seasons or leaves that dance merrily
Upon your head on an early autumn afternoon.
It’s not the words you speak but those
That get lost somewhere within your throat
Which cause your grief.
It is not the tears but the final gaze
That lingers—becomes a memento of
Ephemeral grace.

Alas, all the days you could have described
Humble brilliance became lost in reticence—
Caught beneath the greater umbrella
Of your fear and reluctance to speak.
Beauty crumbles, beauty is built up again—
Beauty is plastic like the script you read.
You are captivated with kindness, the simple act—
Of compassion, which evades you such.
The deepest sorrow is built, from
The illusion you built—dreams—
From which you wake, to clear your head,
Desperate to return again—to the moments
Of timeless grace

A Different Kind of Dream

There's no going home, your childhood is gone,
The avenues are empty, no friends upon the lawn—
And you're not the one who grew up so shy,
Not the one who smiled carefree—
The one who thought he'd learn to fly

Memories in your head take up space,
Walking by the field, once your favourite place—
Who knew there would be time to grow cold,
No more smiling on the playground—
Did you know your soul's been sold?

Aging

Aging
I drag myself out of bed with heavy legs,
And shadows beneath my eyes.
I creep forward, bowing my head over a basin,
Afraid to meet my own gaze
In the mirror above.
My hands shake, as I humbly try to lift my face;
Nothing has changed
But my skin is no longer familiar of my own.
I still look on with the same imperfection,
Carry the same scars to remind me of my flaws.
My voice is the same—I still mumble when I talk.
I speak words no different than before,
Same cadence, same stutter, same fear
But the mouth from which they depart
Is no longer my own.
I still live in the same isolation
And bury my emotions deep within—
Still quiet when I should feel the need to speak.
But the gaze looking back at me is not my own—
I died today before I first woke up;
When I took the first step out of bed
My new life became real.
The identity that was once me
Exists no longer.

A Single Moment

There was one single moment,
Where everything felt right.
On a day, during a week and month
That will soon be out of sight.
I was sure I found perfection,
Until the moment I closed my eyes—
That’s when you disappeared,
And I felt a piece of myself die.
There was one single moment,
Where dreams came true—
The memory will always linger
And I promise, I will never forget.

A Painful Secret

There’s a veil that covers your face,
A blanket of insecurity hidden well—
Jealousy lights your way, like a lantern,
Ghostly shadows follow you soundly,
Whispering to you while you try to sleep.
Your heart pounds in a twisted beat,
Causing you to rot from the inside out—
Learning to slander you day by day.
Jealousy causes hate—inner wars;
You fight but never seem to win—
Weapons are the words you speak,
Pain comes from the ones you don’t.
You seem to get left alone every night,
Blasted through with bullet wounds.
You’re the one left standing in the dark
As the world spins without you.

Above

Up above—on the edge,
Bittersweet remorse hanging loosely—
Hung over my head.
Memories disappear one by one
All I remember now is the sea.
And somewhere deep inside of me
I wish for it to take me away.
Your voice is remembered fondly
But unfortunately it too
Is bound to fade away.
I am sitting on the edge,
With an empty mind and rocks below—
Salt wounds and a damaged brain,
I wish to hold your hand
Before I let go.

A Girl so Beautiful

I know a girl so beautiful,
Her eyes sparkle like the water around her.
She is prettier than the shells that lace her—
She’s more breathtaking than the highest mountains,
Voice like an Oriole.

I met a girl with skin so soft
She makes my spine tingle when our two hands brush
Her hair blows perfectly in the evening breeze
That’s when I think she is at her prettiest,
By the moon’s dawning light.

There’s a girl, who turns grey skies blue,
With two eyes so strong they could cut through metal
Sometimes when I see her I lose my balance—
I stumble, and when I talk to her sometimes,
I begin to wonder.

This girl is not hyperbolized
For surely she deserves every metaphor,
And on occasion when I write about her
I lose myself in a fictitious moment,
Staring to sea, waiting.

A World You'd Never Believe

I never thought the stars could fall
Until I seen you  in the rain.
It was your smile that did me in
Now everyone knows that I’m insane.
I should have asked you for a dance,
Or at the very least your name.
Now my words are like cinder blocks,
Waiting to break again

I’m dancing though memories of you,
No tears tonight, everything will be alright.
Hold my hand and I’ll be there for you
I’ll kiss your cheek before I leave
In a world you’d never believe.

I wasn’t dying until you held my hand
Now I’m lost in your silver eyes—
Silver stars, the bright of night.
I never throught I was meant to be broken,
Until you broke me the way I am.

Take away my breath, pretend to feel the same,
You’re a stack of paper and I’m a broken pen.
I’m dancing through memories of you,
No tears tonight, everything is alright.
Hold my hand and I’ll be there for you
I’ll kiss your cheek before I leave
In a world you’d never believe.
Hold my hand and I’ll be there for you,
A world you’d never believe.

Acceptance

With an infatuation, how can the river run anything but colder?
Like the air surrounding, you live in winter everyday.
You sit, holding a single candle to keep yourself warm,
Desperately grasping its flame, waiting for hope to transform.
When the flame burns to completion you'll have dismay,
Left with nothing but the infatuation that made you colder.

Your last breath is shallow; you're a silhouette.
It's suffocating, the driving force behind your emotions;
Panic fuels you, its only successor is regret.
You try to scream but there's no voice (the product of your devotion).
The silence is calming, you hear birds chirping.
That's what your life has become, the sound of birds chirping.

Panic turns to calmness; you look in the mirror without crying.
Finally, you can breathe again—you whisper in vain.
Following your icy whisper through the night, soon you become lost.
The whisper is allusive—you follow it without trying..
Familiar emotions come rushing back; panic says hello again,
She introduces you to hopelessness—you find yourself lost.

You are one of billions trying to find the meaning of life,
Hyper-analytical and open to theories of nothingness.
The world around you is the world around you, nothing more.
Violently you express emotion, showing tears and war.
Your actions are allusions to you primal distress,
You'll never pray for a savior, you're too full of life.

The night comes to an end and reality sits in disbelief,
The pain you feel leaves you feeling kissed;
Your skin is bled through in spots, hinting you need relief.
In the dark you sit, staring at castrated wrists,
Forever answering questions of broken bones—
Chasing bright lights, the rainbow of your sins is shown.

You write goodbye in the form of a single tear ,
Staining the page of an already stained life.
Your best friend, fear, seduces you for fun—
300 years you have been seduced by fear.
Every road leads towards the same turmoil strife;
Acceptance is your downfall; the emotion you can't overcome.

A Promise

A smile, a promise,
for eternal life, an endless salvation.
Too bad I'm lying,
it would have been a nice story,
For children or dreamers.
Who are they but one and the same?
Brace yourself it won't be long;
brace yourself just one more day
and perhaps the perfect moment,
will become apparent;
not elusive like any other.
Regret what's done,
and pray upon what's soon to be.
I smile, I promise
I'll make it up to you.

Angel

Tonight, can I call you angel
when I see you in the sky?
I'm going to call you angel
whenever I see you smile;
I'm going to call you angel
because you are an angel.

As innocent as angel,
you live your life everyday.
As innocent as an angel
you disappear before me.
I live without an angel;
In this world I need an angel.

Autumn

The raindrops come to feel your cheek,
like the autumn dawn feels the trees.
He whispers to the deceased he sees,
words mangled to his critique.
To his eyes you begin to sneak,
consciousness, oh so bleak. You see
the raindrops come to feel your cheek,
like the autumn dawn feels the trees.
Each syllable to caress your cheek,
he whispers now, for you he sees;
to his back, the autumn breeze.
The raindrops come to seem unique;
the raindrops come to feel your cheek.
