The Pasture

Today, your childhood rests gently
Beneath a blanket of freshly fallen snow,
But do not despair, for the garden you used
To grow, is waiting for you, my dear.
The lilacs and brambles long to feel
Your gentle grace pass through their branches—
And someday they hope to reminisce
Again with the child who they’ve come to miss.
The pink and purple pastures, are waiting
Beneath a winter glaze—the flowers know
You will return to pluck the prettiest petals,
The gift they have been born to give.
And in this meadow, when the frost has lifted,
And you meander once again, with a grin
Widened in glee across your face, the
Bluebirds will flutter down on weightless wings,
And melodically sing of how they're glad you came.
Below the weight of winter, the grass is green—
The same path, the one you played upon as a kid,
Is sitting idly, waiting for the first sign of spring.
Behind the clouds the sky emulates a cerulean hue,
And pauses patiently, until you return once more

The Words Wrote

It’s along the way, the story is wrote,
And the stain of spilt ink is binding.
It causes disbelief of ever finding
The happy ending of a finished quote.

Lyrics in your head weave and rumble—
Wed tales of enemies, a princess and a quest—
A tale of dragons nimbly soaring west,
To encircle the tower you must humble!

It is the words that are bound by fear,
That are caused by the magi’s paws—
That drop your sword when the cause
Of all your sleepless nights stands so near…

But if such a tale is to be spoken,
If there is an ending to fit the lore,
The wyvern has been slain in war

And by sunset, dismay is broken

The Night the Sun Never Left

Past the salt and pepper shaker and nearer
Than I ever thought you would be—
My gaze falters in your light, the disbelief
Than I’m left with—when you’re a ghost
In my mind, and I walk the halls alone.
My gaze fails me in your light—
The aura of joy and compassion which
Reaches across the table reminds me of all
That is right—you remind me of the ephemeral
Nature of our lives—the delicate breathes
And the partings that we will surely face.
Across from me resides the very definition
Of complete beauty, the stigma of where dreams
And reality entangle—and slow dance gently
To a song we all wish we wrote.
Near me resides the reason my heart
Continues to beat—a delicate smile,

Held briefly, is a reminder of why I wake.

Can't

Somewhere hearts are light, and people laugh
Both day and night—champagne to celebrate—
The closing chapter in the book of fate.
That place is not here, for the quest has just begun,
Amongst the sorrow and angst—the stress—
We found relief… But I can’t, I can’t
I can’t tell you of the distance that’s come to pass.
The truth is swallowed, as we live for tomorrow—
Always one more day in our eyes—and maybe
Someday our gazes will intertwine, eye to eye…
But I can’t, I can’t, I’m not finished yet.
I can’t give up tomorrow, the next breath,
Which may be the finale to everything I’ve
Been working towards…
I can’t live for the beauty of the night
For my head must remain bowed
Beneath a candle’s light for a moment longer.
Somewhere the sounds of music tangos
With the soft laughter of deserving ears.
Oh, ere the end of our escapades,
The adventures that we have shared together,
We could share a moment, share a breath…
But I can’t, I can’t take the champagne
Down from the shelf—tomorrow we live
To die again, to die apart.

Let Me Live Again

There's only one gift you could give me,
Only one memento that could make me smile—
So give me back my health, let me walk again,
And I promise I'll never leave.
If you could heal me, build upon my dreams,
I promise that I would love you—
I'd sell my soul to the devil just to run again,
Happiness weaved between the flames.
If you could give me back my world
I would forever be yours—
Just let me jump again so I may feel
The cool burn of the sand—
Let me live again, the only way I know how.

Could you put your entire life on hold
And forgo the dreams you have
Just for your one shot?
Could you wait until your body is broken
Before you take your first steps outside?
The nights will be long as the days pass you by,
The words you want to speak will die on your tongue
While you continue your journey forward.
Faces will come and pass, friendship will never last—
There is no turning back.
Could you watch her leave you without wavering
When she realizes she will always come second?
Can you live a life of loneliness,
Day in, day out?
Can you live never being the person you wanted to be,
For one shot at greatness?

I'm Sorry

I would say I'm sorry,
If you were here with me.
And I would kiss your lips,
If you did exist.
I would be your prince,
If I knew your name.
And I would never be lonely,
If I could touch those perfect lips.
I would live each day like my last,
If I knew you'd soon be here.
And I would never wrong you,
If you did exist.

Forget Me

I watch you forget me, break memories forged,
As I’m left in loneliness, your memory to linger
You speak calmly through shrouded mystery,
Unknowing of how each word you speak
Has an effect on me.
And the hardest part is to pretend
That I don't hold you dear.
I shift to the edge of my seat as you appear,
And I can feel my heartbeat flutter when you are near—
But hope is dashed when you are next to me;
We might as well be miles apart.
You smile and laugh, while I hold a grudge,
Angry of how you don’t understand.
I torment myself behind closed doors—
Trying to find why I have been forgotten,
Do I speak too much or not enough?
Do I cross your thoughts or am I a dream?
I’m left without hope when you are here,
And I watch you look right through me.

Your Memory Forever

Honesty is evasive and remains distant forever,
Never will this voice shutter the words told,
Never will we ever grow old.
Hold on to this moment, you won’t get it back—
Your dreams will become reality
And reality will soon be a memory past.
For separate lives come together
Maybe for a moment, maybe forever.
You will never live up to expectations,
So your live your life now,
While it is still an endeavor.

We Stand Apart

I’ll say I’m sorry until the day I die,
But I can’t forget the look on your face.
It hurts me to hear your goodbyes—
I’m left empty, searching endless
Across the world and back again.
You left me broken, half finished—
You left me questioning myself
And anything I’ve ever believed in.
Upon your return my words will hinder,
Sanity stolen, my eyes are left hazy—
For true beauty stands before me.
Memories shared and memories lost,
Once and for all we stand apart.

The Memory

There is one moment put on repeat,
When I lose my mind it gets me through,
While I’m falling apart it helps me dream—
It’s the reason I survive even if it feels I won’t.
And the moment I live is thanks to you,
You’ll never know what you have helped me with,
I’ll never be able to describe the endless nights—
Clinging to a memory that has passed me by.
I wish I could tell you but it is buried so deep
That it seems at any moment I could forget.
But I live vividly somewhere before here and now,
Walking through a world that once felt near
But now crumbles once upon a time.
By now you have your own reason for being,
Memories to guide you through your life—
To take you far away.

Broken Vision

At this moment my head is flooded
With every word I’ve ever wanted,
But I’m caught in a fog—inhibition at its best—
Which always seems to hold me back.
I look at you and hope for anything but silence,
Your eyes dodge mine—I’m staring at the ground,
Cursing myself for being born without a voice.
You have so many reasons to smile,
And I want to be one but I can’t—I can’t—
I freeze up and end up counting stars—waiting.
And for some uncertain contingency
I have been given so many chances
Which have come and passed me by.
I worry that under some dire circumstance
Today will the last time I hear your voice—
Today will be that last time I see your face—
Today may be where our paths divide.

Timeless

She’s so beautiful I quiver when she’s near—
My breath is torn from my lungs,
My heart balances on her words.
When she reveals her heart to me
Bashfulness turns my face red,
Vacates my hopes of speaking.
When I look her in the eyes,
Absolute beauty is held in a gaze.
I try to make sure my words are right,
Yet my lips never want to move.

Deeper Into the Night

I don’t want to spend these nights alone,
Wandering until I have lost my way.
I want you to guide me so I don’t get lost,
Brighten the streets so I don’t get scared.
I walk in hopes of passing you in the dark,
But with each step you become farther—
I become more distant from myself.
The hypertrophy of hope each morning,
Is destroyed with the rise of stars.
I stand so far away from home,
But still walk deeper into the night—
Still hoping somewhere, somehow,
You manage to hear my thoughts.

Fate

Fate is drawn from hope,
And thoughts so painful—
You suppress them all your life.
The stars never seem to align
The way you wish them to;
For hesitation lights the way
To your hidden desires.
Your mind doesn’t change,
But becomes a burden,
Whispering secrets and distress—
Teaching you to believe in fairy tales.
You begin to wish that someday
You will be bound to fly away
From the memories you left behind—
Dreams you wanted but decided
Would be better to live without.
Fate tests you—knocks you down,
Brings you to your knees
But still you seem to live—
You seem to live without.

Barely Alive

We are all falling apart to different degrees,
Limbs flailing, scarcely connected—
And hearts with murmurs skip beats,
Thinking of love and human inventions.
Metacognitive of fleeting seconds,
And eyes that will never stare back.
Sometimes we begin to wonder,
Who it is living in our dreams—
The face we see every night,
Before and after we go to sleep.
The world that we have built so soundly,
Is being torn to the ground around us—
Soon lovers meet and pass;
Cloudy eyes are left when nothing else is;
Your face is left, when nothing else is.

Everything I Do

December has come to past;
I walk the streets with you in mind.
I sit in snow and watch ice grow;
I sit alone, without you.
Alone and cold, I come to be,
walking upon downtown streets.
Wayward in my goal for you
I find myself lost, in the bitter cold.
Upon me the homeless prey,
lost and alone all I have is you.
Bitter and covered in ice, my heart is frozen,
like my hands, black and broken.
Upon me, the homeless run slender fingers,
in the midst of them I stand regal and alone.
They don't know, I search for you.

You're Already Gone

I'm looking in all of the wrong places;
I will not find you on a park bench,
that I know, but yet it's where I look for you.
Maybe someday you'll come to sit
and watch the birds as I do today.
By then, I'll be long gone-
your life will have just begun.
Here I sit on my last day and I'm without you,
I came to search for you-but I sit alone.
You should come and sit down beside me,
We could reminisce about who I should be.
Tell me where to find you, I'll look there.
Like an apparition, appear before me
show me where to sit- I don't want to sit alone.
My hands become frozen forever, waiting for you,
Still I sit, on the same bench I've always been on,
Hands frozen, I still search for you.

Born Alone

As an hour goes by,
it is to my eye,
just an hour
to live and die;
to make amends
and to save a friend.
As an hour goes by
can you see mine eye?
Living for an hour
asking not to die.

There Will Always Be A Tomorow

We too were young once,
wanderlust and lost in our own ways.
Each day just a path to the next,
time meaningless beyond the clocks.
We too knew there would always be a tomorrow;
we too were forever young.

We’re busy saving lives now,
if not for the joy of being life’s savior,
then for the joy of an endless salary.
For is a life not a life;
No matter why we save them,
no matter why they come to us?

We’re busy putting out fires now,
careless at life’s expense;
facing danger for a thrill of thrills.
For we are those immortal,
living for the smiles of a families fortune;
walking away from lives torn at the seams.

We’re busy sculpting minds now,
casting our lives away valiantly
to make the future bright.
For we could sit in the dark,
or we could rule a kingdom of youth
who will forever look at us like god.

We’re busy flying our planes now,
bringing families closer together,
while making the world more compact.
For we are the children who never grew up,
playing war in the backyards,
sacrificing our own lives for the good of a nation.

We’re busy running your country now,
making your life just a little better,
while making the world just a little safer.
For we are those that never lie,
those who never propagate or cheat;
we are those with morals.

Just like you we had fun once
but now the world is ours
and your fate lies with us.
Just like you we had fun once
But we’re busy saving the world now;
Just like we said we would.
