Watch You Fall

I wish I could help you find what you’re looking for;
I see it in your eyes, the happiness you lack—
And each time I break through the stoic indifference
That paints your face, the smile is fleeting
And is painted with despair.
But I know what it is you want,
The greatness you seek—
The precipice which is always out of reach.
Each time I see you fall I can feel my heart sink,
I want to help but there’s nothing I can do.
On those days you do rise up and go to bed with a smile
I cry myself to sleep for I know it’s not going to last
And by the time I wake you’ll be looking for a way
To blame yourself for what went wrong.
Each day I watch you kill yourself trying to reach your dream
And I become so sick watching you get knocked down
That I find myself physically ill—nauseous with worry.
I wish you would stop, and give up
So we could live a normal life
But I know that without those dreams—if they were ever taken,
Well, I don’t think you’d be able to survive.
You would be left with nothing but me
And deep down—within my heart—I know as well as you,
That I’ll never be enough.

Standing Still

So fragile, we live our lives—
Imperative routine controls us
As we forget the ones we love.
For this world we live is fluid;
As soon as we find ourselves
In the midst of happiness
It is torn away.

For a single second
The world seems right,
But before we have time to smile
Our loved ones are torn away.
Pieces of ourselves fade—
We begin to feel like broken soldiers
Lining the bottom of a toy box.

We convince ourselves, tomorrow’s the day:

We tell somebody we love them,
We step towards our dreams,
We live like we always wanted.
Someday tomorrow won’t come,
And we will be left with regret
Or with a smile on our face.
But either way, our eyes fade grey.

Life isn’t what we’ve expected,
But it can still be all we wanted.

I'm Sorry

I would say I'm sorry,
If you were here with me.
And I would kiss your lips,
If you did exist.
I would be your prince,
If I knew your name.
And I would never be lonely,
If I could touch those perfect lips.
I would live each day like my last,
If I knew you'd soon be here.
And I would never wrong you,
If you did exist.

Goodbye Beautiful

Goodbye beautiful happiness,
Simplicity of life—joy in normality.
Goodbye moments we share, togetherness
And feelings of accomplishment—
Farewell to the times gone by,
Where smiles came frequent and
Dog days were wasted in the sun, content.
Goodbye beautiful laughter, beautiful smiles—
A carefree life without responsibility.
Hello jealousy, hate and stress—
Temper, rage and anger.
Goodbye beautiful happiness.
