You're Terrifying

I'm afraid when I'm lost in thought,
it feels as though I won't escape—not this time.

I'm afraid that I've made a mistake,
just one, but it keeps me from forgetting you.

I'm afraid that you cross my mind too much,
more often then once in a while.

I'm afraid that my best years have passed,
everything that I'm left to live may be a shadow.

I'm afraid of my potential, how far I could regress,
there's so far I have left to fall... Will I live it?

I'm afraid when the morning comes,
it could be the last... The last without you.

I'm afraid of everything around me,
but mostly...  I'm afraid of you.

Sometimes we're not afraid of the person, but the effect they have over us.
