Summer nights are for broken hearts,
Staring at stars while the world sleeps.
They are for watching the birds go by,
Listening to the crickets and forgetting—
Forgetting we will wake up alone.
Summer nights are for taking hope,
And breaking it across your back.
They are for destroying your mind,
Reminders of where we nearly died—
Where the stars shined so bright.
