When You Walk By

If our eyes meet the world will end,
Rockets will launch—2012 in disguise.
If I see you and you see me, our eyes
Will meet—you’ll conveniently see your friends.
I’ll desperately need to check the time—
Staring at the ground is nothing new.
If you see me and I don’t see you—
Well, this is where it gets sublime,
You’ll walk by me while I’m watching birds go by.
If I see you and your eyes don’t interject,
I will lose my voice—as one would expect—
I’ll curse myself; ask why I must be so shy.
